നിങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ട സിനിമയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഇഷ്ടപെട്ട ഭാഗം എതെന്നൂ ചോദിക്കുന്നവരോട് സിനിമയിലെ interval ആണെന്നു പറയുന്നത് ഏതോ മിമിക്രിയില്‍ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതേ ചോദ്യം ഈ‍ സിനിമ കണ്ടു ഇറങ്ങുന്നവരോട് ചോദിച്ചാല്‍ അവര്‍ പറയും ,  സിനിമ തുടങ്ങുന്നതിനു മുന്‍പുള്ള 5 മിനിട്ടും, സിനിമ അവസാനിച്ചതിന് ശേഷമുള്ള 5 മിനിറ്റ് ഉം എന്ന്. സിനിമ തുടങ്ങുമ്പോള്‍ കാണിക്കുന്ന ടൈറ്റില്‍ animation ഉം സിനിമ കഴിഞ്ഞതിനു ശേഷം കാണിക്കുന ഷൂട്ടിംഗ് സമയത്തെ തമാശകള്‍ മാത്രമാണ് ഈ സിനിമയില്‍ മടുപ്പിക്കാത്ത ഭാഗം . ഹരിഹര്‍ നഗര്‍ രണ്ടാം ഭാഗമായ ടു ഹരിഹര്‍ നഗറിനെ ക്ലൈമാക്സ്‌ ഒഴിച്ച് നിര്‍ത്തിയാല്‍ മികച്ച entertainer ആണെന് നിസംശയം പറയാം, പക്ഷെ ഗോസ്റ്റ് ഹൌസ് നിരാശപെടുതുന്നു


വിശ്വസിക്കാന്‍ പറ്റാത്ത കാര്യങ്ങളൊക്കെ രണ്ടര മണിക്കൂറില്‍ കാണിച്ചിട്ട് അതിന്റെ അവസാനത്തെ ഭാഗത്തില്‍ അതൊക്കെ പ്രേക്ഷകരെ പറ്റിക്കാനുള്ള ചില സംഭവങ്ങളാണ് എന്ന് കാണിക്കുന്ന പരിപാടി ടു ഹരിഹര്‍ നഗര്‍ എന്നാ സിനിമയില്‍ പരീക്ഷിച്ചതാണ് ഹരിഹര്‍ നഗര്‍ എന്ന പണം കായ്ക്കുന്ന ഫോര്‍മുലക്ക് തോമസുകുട്ടി (അശോകന്‍) എന്നാ കഥാപാത്രം മരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞതായി കാണിച്ചാല്‍ പിന്നെ ഒരു മൂനാം ഭാഗത്തിനോ നാലാം ഭാഗത്തിനോ scope ഇല്ല എന്ന് കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു ക്ഷമിക്കാം .

കഥ
കഴിഞ്ഞ സിനിമയുടെ അവസാനത്തില്‍ തോമസുകുട്ടിക്കു കിട്ടുന്ന പണം കൊണ്ട് വാങ്ങുന്ന ഡോറോത്തി ബംഗ്ലാവ് (Dorothy Bunglow) എന്ന പ്രേത ഭവനത്തിലേക്ക്‌ നാല്‍വര്‍ സംഘം എത്തുന്നു. ആ ബംഗ്ലാവില്‍ പ്രേതമില്ല എന്ന് സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയാണ് ലക്‌ഷ്യം. ഇതിനായി അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും കൂടുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ അവര്‍ക്ക് ആ ബംഗ്ലാവില്‍ അസ്വാഭാകികമായ പല സംഭവങ്ങളും നേരിടേണ്ടി വരുന്നു. ഡോറോത്തി മദാമ്മ കൊലപെടുത്തിയ മൂന്ന് പേരുടെ ആത്മാവിനെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടാന്‍ അവര്‍ ഫാദര്‍ ഡോമിനിക് (നെടുമുടി വേണു ) വിന്റെ സഹായം തേടുന്നു ഫാദര്‍ പ്രേതത്തെ ഇന്‍ ദി നെയിം ഓഫ് ദി ഫാദര്‍, സണ്‍ ആന്‍ഡ്‌ ഹോളി സ്പിരിറ്റ്‌ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു ഒരു ചന്ദ്രഗ്രഹണ ദിവസം പിടിച്ചു കെട്ടുന്നു. ആ ശ്രമത്തില്‍ ഫാദര്‍ മരിക്കുന്നു. ഇനി ഈ നശിച്ച ബംഗ്ലാവ് വേണ്ട എന്ന് തീരുമാനിച്ചു പകുതി പൈസക്ക് ആ ബംഗ്ലാവ് തിരിച്ചു ഡോറോത്തി മദാമ്മക്ക്‌ നല്‍കികൊണ്ട് അവര്‍ തിരിച്ചു പോകുന്നു.


സ്വാഭാവികമായും അവിടെ തീരും എന്ന് കരുതുന്ന കഥ. പക്ഷെ ലാല്‍ പ്രേക്ഷകരെ ഇനി പറ്റിക്കനിരിക്കുനതെയ് ഉള്ളൂ. ബംഗ്ലാവും പ്രേതങ്ങളെയും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് കാശടിച്ചു മാറ്റാനുള്ള ഫാദര്‍ ഇന്റെ തന്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ ആണിതെന്നു ഫാദര്‍ തന്നെ നാല്‍വര്‍ സംഘത്തെ വിളിച്ചു പറയുന്നു. പിന്നെയെല്ലാം ഫോണില്‍ ആണ്. ഫാദര്‍ തങ്ങളെ പറ്റിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു എന്ന് തങ്ങള്‍ക്കു അറിയാമായിരുന്നു എന്നും തന്ന പണ പെട്ടിയ്ല്‍ പണമില്ലെന്നും ഫാദര്‍ഇനെ അവര്‍ തിരിച്ചു പറ്റിചെന്നും പറയുന്നു. ഇതൊക്കെ കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ തങ്ങള്‍ എത്രയും നേരും ഈ സിനിമയുടെ അണിയറ പ്രവര്തകള്‍ തങ്ങളെ പറ്റിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു എന്ന് മനസിലാക്കുമ്പോയെക്കും സിനിമ അവസാനിക്കുന്നു.


കോമഡി
ഹരിഹര്‍ നഗര്‍ സിനിമകളുടെ USP എന്ന് പറയുന്നത് കോമഡി തന്നെ ആയിരിക്കും എന്നാ കാര്യത്തില്‍ സംശയമില്ല. പക്ഷെ ഈ സിനിമയില്‍ പ്രേത, അഥവാ ഹോറോര്‍ കോമഡി എന്നാ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ മലയാള സിനിമയില്‍ ഇറങ്ങിയിട്ടുള്ള സിനിമകളില്‍ കണ്ടു പരിചയിച്ച പല രംഗങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട് . ജഗദീഷിന്റെ ഡയലോഗുകള്‍ പലപ്പോഴും തമാശ ഉണ്ടാക്കുനില്ല. ഹരിശ്രീ അശോകന്‍ ചെയ്ത കഥപാത്രം അസഹ്യം . ജഗദീഷിന്റെ 'വിജ്രംഭിച്ചതും' , ഹരിശ്രീ അശോകന്റെ 'കോണകം' എന്നീ പുഞ്ച ഡയലോഗുകള്‍ വേണ്ടത്ര ക്ലിക്ക് ആയില്ല


ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യം മുതല്‍ അവസാനം വരെ ഓരോന്ന് കണ്ടു പേടിക്കുക എന്നത് മാത്രമേ നാല് നായകന്‍ മാര്‍ക്കും അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാര്കും ചെയ്യാനുള്ളൂ. അഭിനയിതിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില്‍, പ്രത്യേകിച്ചു പേടിക്കുന്നതായി അഭിനയിക്കുന്നതില്‍ മുകേഷ്, അശോകന്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ വളരെ മോശം പ്രകടനം ആണ് നടത്തിയത് . നെടുമുടി വേണു ചെയ്ത കഥ പത്രമാണ്‌ തമ്മില്‍ ഭേദം . പ്രേതം ഭാടിച്ചതായി അഭിനയിച്ച രാധിക നാഗവല്ലിയുടെ പ്രേതം പിടി പെടാതെ നോക്കിയത് നന്നായി.


മൂന്ന് ഗാനങ്ങള്‍ ഈ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്ങിലും ലക്ഷ്മി റായിയുടെ ഐറ്റം ഡാന്‍സ് 'ഒലെ ഒലെ' സൂപ്പര്‍ . അടിപൊളി പാട്ടുകള്‍ക് മലയാളം വരികള്‍ ഒട്ടും ചേരില്ല എന്ന് സംവിധായകനും സംഗീത സംവിധായകനും മനസിലാക്കിയത് നന്നായി അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ഇതും കണ്ണിലൊരു മുള്ള് കൊണ്ടാല്‍, കോഴി പൂങ്കോഴി എന്നോകെ ആകുംമായിരുന്നു




ഇന്‍ ഹരിഹര്‍ നഗര്‍, റാം ജി റാവു സ്പീക്കിംഗ് എന്നെ സിനിമകളോട് മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് വൈകാരികമായ ഒരു സ്നേഹമുണ്ട് . അത് കൊണ്ട് തന്നെയാണ് ലാലും സിദ്ദിക് ഉം ഇപ്പോഴും എന്ത് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്താലും കണ്ണുമടച്ചു മലയാളികള്‍ അത് കാണാന്‍ തള്ളി കയറുന്നത് . എന്ന് വെച്ച് തട്ടികൂട്ടു സിനിമ പിടിച്ചു വിടരുത്.

Soundarya Rajinikanth Marriage: Soundarya Rajinikanth - Aswin Kumar marriage fixed

Soundarya Rajinikanth, the younger daughter of Tamil superstar Rajnikanth will be getting married to Aswin Kumar, son of a Chennai based businessman.

The engagement function of Soundarya and Aswin was held at Park Sheraton Hotel, Chennai on 17, February 2010. Marriage will take place later this year.

She is the youngest daughter of movie star Rajinikanth and entrepreneur, Latha Rajinikanth. She is a film graphic designer, producer and director in Chennai and own her own studio called Orcher Studios.

Where to sit while watching a 3D Movie in Theatres

Watched AVATAR 3D today at Sri Padmanabha theatres Trivandrum. A different movie.. The only 3D movie I watched earlier was the Malayalam movie Kuttichathan. My concept of a 3D movie was the one which throws a spear, fire balls or an arrow to the eyes of the spectator, making him fearful, but Avatar was was different. A more visibile experience which makes the viewer more involved in the story.



Another thing I learned while watching a 3D movie is that you should sit in the front row of the theatres just as close to the screen. No visible hindrances such as other people, theatre seats should come in front of you which will make them also a part of the 3D movie.

I sat in the back row in the balcony like watching any other ordinary movie, but immediately switched my seat to the front row to get the true 3D experience.

Remember, the next time you go to watch a 3D movie, take the lowest ticket and sit in the front row itself.

Kerala Cafe Malayalam Movie Review: A Treat to Watch

Yesterday, I got a chance to watch the movie Kerala cafe, a novel effort by ten directors and cinematographers lead by ace director Renjith. The movie as such is a compilation of ten short films based on different subjects woven into a common theme.

The main plot of the movie revolves around a restaurant named Kerala Cafe in a railway station where different people from different phases of life meet and the story progresses through the various situations in their lives.

All the films are a treat to watch but the effort to incorporate with each other into a common platform could have been better.

The movie Kerala Cafe starts with the film Nostalgia by M. Padmakumar, starring Dileep, Sudheesh, Navya Nair. Dileep is an NRI from Dubai, who always likes to talk of his village in Kerala and relished the nostalgic feeling around it. However when he returns to his native land he has only compalints about the land, the roads, and the people. The nostalgic man comes to his native place only to sell off his 'tharavadu', dispose his parents, puts his children to boarding school and returns back.

The second film Island express by Shankar Ramakrishnan, is presented in a not so familiar mood for the normal viewers, but gets huge applause towards the end for the theme. Prithviraj emphasises himself as a style icon in this too. A different treatment altogether with good cinematography, editing.

The third film is Lalitham Hiranmayam directed by Shaji Kailas which deals with the husband portrayed by Suresh Gopi being caught between his loving wife Lalitha (Jyothirmayi) and his love Hiranmaya (Dhanya Mary). The movie deals with extra marital love which makes the spectator bored at some times but the climax in which the character portrayed by Suresh Gopi dies makes the viewer happy.

The next one 'Happy Journey' by Anjali Menon is the pick of the ten films when dealing with entertainment value. The movie is an instant hit among women viewers. Jagathy Sreekumar has exceled in his role of a womanizer. One of the best attempts in the bunch of ten movies.

Mrityunjayam directed by Uday Ananthan is a horror flick which even makes the viewer engulfed in mystery. The movie is notable for its good makeup, romantic scenes by Fahad Fasil (son of Fasil who had earlier acted in the movie Kaiethum Dooratthu) and Reema Kallingal. The film has good star cast with Anoop Menon, Meera Nandan, Thilakan etc. However the film lacks the sound effects of a horror movie.

Aviraamam, directed by B. Unnikrishnan, tells the story of the family of a businessman (Siddique) affected by recession, his wife (Swetha menon) and children has nothing in it, no good theme, script, casting. Just a failed venture.

The Bridge is the film which got standing innovation from the crowd when I saw the movie in Savitha theatres, Ernakulam. Eventhough the story is simple, it touches the heart of viewers of all class. The film sets high standards in its cinematography (by Suresh Rajan). Kudos to Anwar Rasheed, after much hated attempts like Rajamanikyam and Chotta Mumbai.

Off-season had huge expectations, because it was from one of my favourite directors Shyamaprasad. The movie is a full length humour subject with 'recession' as the theme and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead. Eventhough the story was good, it lacked punch in dialogues with the highlight of Suraj's 'Trivandrum accent'. The film could have made better in some other way.

Makal by Revathi had the same old theme of child prostitution. Nothing more to say about it. Boring narration and missing sequences in between. (One thing to say about this movie: All movies have their names displayed in the screen after their start. The movie Makal started with a 'Nagercoil' badge before its name, which made several viewers think that it was the name, however it meant to denote the location of the story; this should have been avoided if the director had showed some sign boards or so.)

Puram Kazhcakal - Mammootty, Srinivasan, Lal Jos.. It has it all.. but the film has nothing to make us remember except the beauty of Malakkapara and Vettilapara ranges.

Altogether the 'movie' Kerala Cafe is a must watch for its unique and novel treatment and for some brilliant short films.

My personal favourites are 'Happy Journey', 'The Bridge' and 'Mrityunjayam'

ശരിക്ക് പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ പുതിയ സൂപ്പര്‍ സ്റ്റാര്‍ ഉദയം സിനിമയ്ക്ക്‌ ദോഷത്തെ ക്കാള്‍ ഗുണമാണ് സൃഷ്ടിക്കുക . ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് നമ്മുടെ തമിഴ് സിനിമയുടെ കാര്യമെടുക്കാം. ഉലക നായകനും സ്റ്റൈല്‍ മന്നനും മാറി നിന്നാല്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ തമിഴ് സിനിമ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നത് വിക്രം, വിജയ്‌, സൂര്യ എന്നീ സൂപ്പര്‍ താരങ്ങളാണ് സമ്പന്ന കുടുംബത്തിലെ പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ പ്രേമിച്ചു അടി മേടിക്കുക, തൊഴില്‍ ഇല്ലയ്മയുടെയും , ദാരിദ്ര്യത്തിന്റെ വേദനകളെ ഉള്ളിലൊതുക്കി കഴിയുക എന്നീ റോളുകള്‍ ആദ്യ കാലത്തു അവതരിപിച്ചിരുന്ന ഈ നടന്‍മാര്‍ ആ നിലക്ക് തങ്ങളുടെ സിനിമകളെ വിജയിപിചിച്ച ചരിത്രവുംയീ ആണ് ആക്ഷന്‍ ചിത്രങ്ങളിലേക്ക് തിരിഞ്ഞത്. കുഷി, ഗില്ലി എന്നി ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ വിജയ്ക്കും, ജമിനി, ധൂല്‍, അന്ന്യന്‍ എന്നി ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ വിക്രമിനും, കാക്ക കാക്ക, ഗജിനി എന്നി ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ സൂര്യക്കും സൂപ്പര്‍ താര സിംഹസനതിലെക്കുള്ള വഴിതുറന്നു . ഈ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ഇവര്ക്ക് സൂപ്പര്‍സ്റ്റാര്‍ പദവി യോടപ്പം ഒരു അമാനുഷിക ഇമജും സമ്മാനിച്ച്‌. അത് കൊണ്ടു തന്നെ അവരുടെ മുന്‍കാല ചിത്രങ്ങളായ സേതു, പിതാമഹന്‍, ഫ്രണ്ട്, എന്നി ചിത്രങ്ങളില്‍ ചെയ്തത് പോലെയുള്ള സാധാരണ വേഷങ്ങിലെക്കുള്ള മ ടങ്ങിപോക്കും അസാധ്യമായി .

Mohanlal, first actor in India to join Territorial Army

Malayalam actor Mohanlal has formally joined as Lt. Colonel rank in Territorial Army (TA)of India today.

Army chief General Deepak Kapoor handed over the title of Lt. Colonel by pinning the Ashoka Lion and star on Mohan Lal's shoulders, at a ceremony in South Block, New Delhi. He will join the Kannur Terriers, 122 Infantry Battalion (TA) of Madras Regiment.

Mohanlal has been conferred the title of Lieutenant colonel for his contributions as an actor in the movies depicting the life of soldiers like `Kirti Chakra' and `Kurukshetra', directed by Major Ravi.



He is the celebrity to join Territorial army this year after cricketer Kapil Dev, and is the first Indian actor to join the Territorial Army.

The Territorial Army is part of Regular Army in which civilians can do their routine jobs and offer army service when the nation needed them. Duties of the TA include assisting civil administration during natural calamities and maintenance of essential services in situations where life of the communities is affected or the Security of the Country is threatened etc.

Presently the Territorial Army has 42 infantry battalions with a strength of 40000 persons along with many industrialists, politicians and eminent personalities.

Bought an audio CD out of curiosity today.

The album is titled "Song of Nature - Beckoning Hills" , a musical rendition of nature, classical but contemporary with flute as the main instrument. India's ace flutist Pandit Ronu Majumdar renders the songs in flute. The music was first released by Magnasound in 1993. The album was earlier published in the title " A travellers tale".

The album has eight tracks with music inspired by nature and provides the breath of nature's freshness in the drawing room or while travelling.
