According to a study by Consultancy firm Deloitte, 65% of cellphone users in Asia, Europe and America buy new phones in every two years.
This means that atleast 100 million cell phone waste will be dumped in this world and started causing environmental problems.
Foreseeing this danger, cell phone companies itself has started collecting damaged and old phones and started recycling it.
Surveys reveal that only 17 per cent of the cellular users in India are aware that their handset could be recycled.
In India Nokia has launched a‘Take Back’ campaign by which users can dispose their used/damaged handsets and accessories and reducing the mobile phone waste. Cell phones of all brands will be accepted in the Nokia priority dealer show rooms and Nokia care centres. Nokia will also plant a tree for every handset disposed at its centres and also give a surprise gift.
I recycled my old 3310 and two batteries last week.
If you have an unused or damaged cell phone or accessory, drop it in the nearest Nokia priority dealer show rooms and Nokia care centres.
Save the Earth for the sake of your children!
